Introduction

One of the sad realities about the age in which we we live, is that so few Christians are awakened to the profound wealth of Biblical truth and teaching contained in many of the older hymns of previous generations.

You will find that these hymns below much like the Psalms in the Scriptures develop a Scriptural theme throughout, where the thought is not only connected but also developed. These are those hymns that are not only filled with sound theology, and maintain the beautiful posture and disposition of reverence and awe of God. But they are also sung to set tunes, that suit the tone and essence of the words - all working together their common purpose to glorify the God of the Scriptures.

As we think upon the magnificence of God's attributes, the greatness of His works,  and the unfettered freedom of His grace in saving lost sinners. We pray that the Lord, of whose glories these hymns sing, He will truly be pleased to use to encourage and enrich our souls as we serve Him, and await with great eagerness the imminent coming of His Son in great glory!
